chevron nails

(oh hey red fingers)

*jack wills 'jade'*
*nails supreme white nail art pen*

nail art, from me?

well no, not really. obviously, this post does involve nails and so technically is, this is the most simple nail art there ever was. it does have a little of the 'got bored with the tippex pen' about it, but i can, um, rock that look. totally.

so these are my chevron nails! apart from them being so simple, what i like about these is the versatility of them. you can change the base colour, the colour of the lines, the number of fingers you did do it on...

i opted for this pretty jade colour i was recently given. jack wills isn't a place i would ever to think to go for for nail varnish, and i can't really report back just yet. review soon, maybe? i also chose to just do it on one finger as an accent finger.

what do you think?

burt's bees replenishing lip balm with pomegranate oil

another day, another pomegranate lip balm...

if you hadn't noticed, i have somewhat of an obsession with pomegranate, both in beauty products and in the flesh (last post here). i'm gradually building up a collection of pomegranate-themed products in my stocks, and this is the latest one to be approved (any recommendations of pomegranate products would be much appreciated).

the latest addition comes in the form of burt's bees replenishing lip balm with pomegranate oil. in other words, the burt's bees pomegranate lip balm. you may say i don't need multiple lip balms in the same scent, but i've come up with a list of reasons to prove that wrong. firstly, this is a stick/tube rather than pot, which i'm sure you'll agree is perfect for inside your bag, and prevents (some of) those germs. also, there are variations on the pomegranate scent, as let's face it, pomegranate doesn't really smell of much. when i first smelt this particular one it reminded me of pesto, but it's grown on me.

it's also very nice and moisturising, and continual daily use (get me!) has given me nice soft, smooth lips. i have also noticed that when i stopped using it for a few days me lips where in no where near as good smoothness. it gives a slight tint to the lips, and is overall a very lovely product, as well as being very affordable!

Sally Hansen insta-dri

hi!
today i thought i would put up a review for you lovelies on my favourite topcoat: Sally Hansen insta-dri. sorry if it's a bit boring, but this stuff is seriously amazing.

it packs so much shine it's actually quite ridiculous. that's the reason it is my favourite, nothing else. when i put this on, i can actually see my reflection in my nails. how's that for a selling point? i'm not too sure about how fast drying it is, but then i am famed for being impatient in the nail-drying department... (yesterday i maay have, um, scratched my head [promise i don't have nits, i had a lump!] when my nails were still wet, and got nail varnish in my hair. maybe.)

when i put this on top of my nail varnish, it usually lasts for about 5-6 days before chipping, which i think is fairly impressive. i'm afraid i haven't been digging or anything of the like, so don't know how long it lasts in those circumstances but it should be fine!

so, that's it for this post. i'm trying to post ore often at the moment, so if you have any requests please let me know below.
what's your favourite topcoat?

Rose review: Max Factor Eye Brightening Tonal Black Volumising Review

Hi lovelys,

When I needed a new mascara a while ago, I just had a little look around Boots and thought this one looked interesting. I picked it up, so here's my review of this Max Factor mascara!

The reason I picked this one up especially was really because of its 'tonal' properties. It comes in three different varieties (one for brown eyes, one for blue and one for green), and claims to brighten the colour of your eyes. I personally don't see much difference in this specific area, in the bottle or on my eyes, but my eyes definitely look bright! (pictures of my eyes aren't edited)

Wand, tube and eyes with it on.
I really like both the formulation and wand of this mascara. I like how together you can get a nice natural look (like above), but is easily built up to very dramatic lashes. I'd say it's definitely more suited for people who need length rather than fullness or volume, because although it makes my lashes voluminous, it really takes the prize for its lengthening properties. Individually, the brush is perfect for me: not too small, but not unreasonably huge. The formulation is really nice and doesn't clump at all.

£7.99 here.

So I hope you all enjoyed this post, and let me know if you have this and what you thought!!
Bye!!xx

Rose review: REN hydra-calm global protection day cream

Hi everyone!
When I got a sample of this moisturiser a while back, I wasn't too excited. I'm not sure why, it may have been because I knew I would never repurchase it due to REN being such a high-end brand and was afraid of falling in love; it may have been because I thought I would only get a few uses out of it due to it being such a small sample.

But oh my god I love this so much.
So much.
Soo, so much.
SO MUCH.

Yep, really that much, haha :)

Ok, so raving aside I'll get on with the review...
In terms of the brand and packaging it's a thumbs up from me. I love REN for its ethos, and find the packaging so lovely. I just wish it was a tiny but cheaper to be honest! Because as much as I rave about this product, it's like £30 for the full size, which I would just never spend on a moisturiser.
However, in terms of its moisturising capabilities it is AB.SO.LUTE.LY. AMAZING.
And trust me, I'm not exaggerating. As I'm using it very sparingly I've been using it as a kind of treatment cream. And I joke not, I put this on a dry patch on my forehead a couple of nights ago, and when I woke up it was completely back to normal and as moisturised as...... Something very moisturised! Oh and also, for a patch around 2-3 square inches big I used an amount literally equal to an ant. Smaller than a pea. Waay smaller.
I also used this on my holiday when my skin was soo dry, clogged up with suncream and just awful from jumping in and out of the pool multiple times a day. And a pea sized amount all over my face saved.my.skin.

So that's my review finished, I know I got a bit excited but I hope you enjoyed and found it useful! If you have any questions feel free to contact me (email at top of page in contact me).
Bye!xx

Favourite A/W nail varnishes!

Hi everyone!
As you may know, it is now half term and as I can't wear nail varnish during term time I suddenly become obsessed in the holidays. I know I'm a bit late for this as its practically winter here in England now, but hey-ho. Also, I don't quite know why I chose one of the summeriest, most pastelly backgrounds ever, but we live and learn ;)
I've chosen 4 colours, from two different brands. 2 of them are really cliched autumnal colours but one of them definitely isn't.

The first is Barry M raspberry. I'm pretty sure everyone and their dog (or is it mother?!) has this and I can see why. It's pretty much the perfect pinky-reddy toned burgundy and it looks so nice on the nails. Barry M nail varnishes are also obviously really cheap (£2.99) and good quality, and can be found in Boots and Superdrug.

Next is Barry M pink silver glitter. An extremely inventive name, but I think this is just the perfect colour to complement burgundies as it has flecks of pink glitter as well as silver (as the name would suggest). I'm wearing it in the picture below over raspberry (I like to call my nail painting style shabby chic, just FYI).

Another favourite is Topshop blitz. This is again a burgundy (current favourite colour), but is a metallic and has a really pretty golden shimmer to it. It can be found in Topshop for £6.

My last pick is a bit different, and is Topshop gone fishing. It is primarily a S/S shade, it being mint, but it has more green to it so verges on the khaki side of things. I also think it can be nice to have some lighter colours, even in winter. This one is £5. Oh, and by coincidence it's exactly the same colour as the background!

To sandwich in these colours, I use OPI start-to-finish for base and Sally Hansen insta-dri for masses of shine! I won't say too much about these now as I will probably do reviews, so look out for those.

So hope you enjoyed this post! What are your favourite A/W shades? Thanks for reading! Bye!xx

(PS. Sorry about the lack of posts lately but I had a geography essay due in yesterday that I lost all of  Saturday.)

Rose Review: Simple kind to eyes eye makeup remover pads

Hi everyone!! Today I am going to review some eye makeup remover pads!
I tend to use makeup wipes on my eyes as I only wear mascara, and don't think I really need much else. I think that wipes are perfect for people like me, or for those times when you really can't be bothered to cleanse. There are, however, a lot of very expensive and very cheap ones out there to choose from and I'd really recommend these.
It's hard to go into these in too much depth, as they are only wipes, after all! However what sells them for me are two things: one, that they are textures on one side to really get the product off, and two, that they come in q mini version. I really don't get why lots of brands choose not to do smaller versions of products because they are not only great for travelling, but these ones in particular are also great because you really don't need a huge normal-sized wipe for just mascara. Phew, long sentance! They claim to remove waterproof mascara, and I think they do, but it does take a bit if rubbing so if you have sensitive eyes it may be better to use a normal remover.
So I hope you've enjoyed this review! Feel free to comment if you have any other suggestions, and I have lots more reviews planned so look out for those! Bye!!!xx

Rose Review: The Body Shop green apple shower gel

Hi everyone!
As you will have seen from the title, today I have a review for you!

The Body Shop green apple shower gel is something I acquired a couple of months ago after seeing Zoe and Louise from zoella and sprinkleofglitter purchase it in a haul, and I have to say I really don't regret it. It's nothing particularly special, but for the price, it's soo good! It also lathers really well, has good packaging in terms of getting the product out, and smells amazing. Mmm. Of... Well, apples!
Yeah, so there's not much else to say really, just that I would really recommend it!
Available in stores or online from the Body Shop.
